Over spring break, (March 22 people, sorry I have not updated,) I was given the opportunity to volunteer for something incredible!!
Our town has the Masonic Temple, a massive building of stone and wonder. Off limits to the public except for occasional weddings and events. I will always call it by that name, but The Salina Innovation Foundation has done amazing things with it!!
They are a non profit organization and they have so many neat-o things that are going on!!
This morning I was able to participate in the FREE yes, FREE yoga and breathing session. We didn't do anything that required too much movement and the instructor was soothing.
After that I enjoyed some coffee and a tour of the building. It would have been my third but I enjoy seeing this building.
It was raining hard that morning and the leaks in the roof were evident. When we went to see the theater, the water on the floor was a quick fix. We placed a few buckets and a mat down and we were good to go. The backdrop from the night before needed to be raised so I watched in wonder as it was done.
After the tour I grabbed some tea and listened while the day was planned out.
Luna the dog was let out and she is such a cute dog!! She is playful and also vigilant.
She would not leave one of the doors alone. Turns out, there was a kitten!!
I bet your day doesnt involve dogs and kittens!! I had so much fun playing with her. We decided to move her up into the office but needed to clean the area first. So I followed the crew upstairs and helped move things, make them neater and safer for the kitten to be around.
We moved her up into the office and she wanted to just stick around!! She loved following us as we walked in and out.
Used the vacuum to clean the Gargoyle room after the Saint Patrick's day pub crawl. I also picked all the decorations up off the tables and around the room.
In the afternoon, after lunch, I packed the decorations into boxes and took a look at the amazing artwork that was going up!
I learned about the plans that they have to start a visitors center and a museum for the Masons who are still using the fourth and fifth floors.
There is a pop up restaurant opening up as well and it will help get them on their feet!
Like I said, I love to help volunteer and who doesnt love free, dogs, and kittens!?
